Making the Unconscious Conscious: A Simple Path to Real, Lasting Change
by Brian & Carrie
“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” — Carl JungThis single line is a game-changer—if you stop long enough to let it sink in.
We Weren’t Always the People You See Today
If you know us now—whether personally or through Brian and Carrie Live—you wouldn’t recognise who we were ten years ago.
We were angry, frustrated, jealous, jaded…Mostly, we were sad.
Sad because we had tried everything we were told to do:
Goal setting
Hustling
Reading every ‘success’ book
Working ourselves into the ground
None of it worked.
Days were chaos.Nights were grief and exhaustion. And slowly, we started believing the worst:
We were broken. We were destined for mediocrity. We didn’t have “it.”That this was simply… our fate.
Until we began uncovering the unconscious stories driving everything.
Understanding Mindset Changed Everything
The real breakthrough had nothing to do with working harder. It was learning what mindset actually is, how it functions, and how our unconscious patterns were sabotaging us.
We both had a “story” running in the background—on repeat—fueling:
Self-sabotage
Overthinking
Procrastination
Self-doubt
We knew what to do.We knew how to do it.But we couldn’t make it happen.
Because we were fighting ourselves.
Our culture glorifies relentlessness:Kick down the door. Get after it. Be relentless. Kill it.
But that approach destroys more people than it helps. It never worked for us—and it’s not sustainable for most people.
True, lasting change comes from the gentle way: awareness, truth, small steps, and consistency.
Your Internal Story Is Running the Show
You have an unconscious dialogue shaping:
Your habits
Your confidence
Your emotions
Your consistency
Your success or lack of it
This story runs 24/7—even when you don’t notice. If you don’t make it conscious, it controls your life…and you call it fate.
Simplicity + Consistency = Success
This equation works in every area of life:
Business
Fitness
Relationships
Personal growth
Do simple things. Do them every day. Results follow.
Which leads to our foundational daily practice:
The 3-Step Process to Rewire Your Mindset
1. Dictate Journal (Morning + Evening)
For 5 minutes, write down your thoughts exactly as they are.
No gratitude journaling. No positive spin. No goals. No pretending.
Just the truth.
Your inner voice is harsh, critical, cruel even. When you surface it onto paper, you weaken its power.
You cannot out-goal-set an unsuccessful mindset.
The story must be uncovered before it can be changed.
2. Set Objectives (Not Goals)
Forget about 1-year, 5-year, 10-year plans for now.
Most people dream big…but fail daily.
Instead, write 3–5 high-impact actions you intend to complete today.
Not dreams.Not wishes.Not fantasies.
Objectives.
This bridges the gap between where you are and where you want to be.
3. Count Your Wins
Every night, reflect on what went right.
You already count your scars—every mistake, every failure, every frustration.
You do it automatically.
Counting wins intentionally rewires your brain, shifting it out of negativity bias and strengthening confidence, consistency, and momentum.
List:
What you accomplished
What went right
What improved
What you’re proud of
Small wins compound into massive change.
Because One Size Never Fits All
There is no universal formula for:
Exercise
Nutrition
Business
Relationships
Mindset
There is only your way.
The right approach always meets you where you are—and grows with you.
The Goal Isn’t Becoming Someone Else — It’s Becoming Fully You
Once you surface your unconscious story and begin redirecting it, everything changes:
Less self-sabotage
Less overthinking
Less hesitation
More clarity
More action
More confidence
More peace
This 3-step practice works. We’ve used it with entrepreneurs around the world.
Simple. Consistent. Effective. Every time.
Your Fate Isn’t Fixed
Unless you make the unconscious conscious, it will dictate your life. But once you expose it—and replace it with intention—the direction becomes entirely yours.
We hope this gives you clarity, relief, and a starting point for real change.
