90 Days Alcohol-Free: The Highlights That Changed Everything
OYNB Hero Story
“During the 90-day challenge, I rediscovered running — and the mental clarity that comes with it. Now, every Sunday morning, I run 10km and I love it.”
Today marks 90 days alcohol-free, and the transformation has been far bigger than I expected. Here are the highlights that shaped my journey:
Pushing Myself Socially
I went to a work event where I didn’t know a single person — and I worked the room. For me, this was a huge breakthrough. Alcohol-free confidence feels different: grounded, steady, and real.
A Bold Change (and a Good Deed)
I chopped my very long hair into a short style — something I never would’ve had the courage or clarity to do before.Even better, I donated it to a charity that creates wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy.
Adventure Awaits
I booked a two-week adventure holiday for myself and my family.Instead of planning life around recovery days or hangovers, I’m planning experiences.
From “Fairly Fit” to “Really Fit”
My training went from 2 workouts a week to 5–6.The consistency, energy, and motivation arrived naturally once alcohol was out of the picture.
Yoga, Meditation, and Mallorca
After the nth OYNB email, I finally made the call: I joined a yoga studio.
Hot yoga, meditation, and new relaxation techniques have become part of my routine — and I even organised a yoga retreat in Mallorca with 10 friends.
Running Has Returned
Every Sunday morning, without fail, I run 10km.Not because I should, but because I genuinely love it — the movement, the headspace, the freedom.
Simple Evenings, Better Moments
I’m reading again in the evenings.I’m present with my kids — bath time, bedtime stories, laughter. These small moments feel fuller and brighter without wine fogging the edges.
Zero Arguments, Zero Anxiety
Not a single argument with my husband in 90 days. My anxiety, once high and constant, has dropped all the way down to zero.Sleep has improved beyond anything I’ve experienced in my adult life.
Comfortable in My Body — Finally
For the first time at 40, I feel proud, strong, and at ease in my own skin.I don’t miss drinking. I don’t envy anyone else’s glass.I genuinely can’t imagine giving up any of these gains for a night of booze.
Gratitude & Next Steps
Thank you to everyone in the community for your daily inspiration — you keep me going. And thank you, Ruari and Andy, for creating something that truly changes lives.
Rolling on to 365 days. Xxx
