“I don’t see any benefit in drinking at all – it doesn’t fit in my new lifestyle.”

“This time with OYNB felt very different. Much more like a lifestyle change.”

When one habit doesn’t fit the rest of your life

I’ve always been active and into health and fitness. I regularly train and compete in jiu-jitsu, and movement has always been a big part of who I am.

Alcohol was the one part of my life that never really fit.

Even just a few drinks at the weekend would linger for days – not just in my body, but in my sleep, mood, and overall energy. Deep down I knew: I could achieve more without alcohol.

A first 90 days… without real change

I had already completed a 90–day alcohol-free period last year.

The benefits were obvious:

  • Better sleep

  • More energy

  • Clearer head

But as soon as it ended, I slipped back. It hadn’t become part of me yet – it felt like a temporary break, not a true shift in how I lived.

Doing it differently with OYNB

This time, with OYNB, everything felt different.

I treated it as a full lifestyle change, not just “not drinking”:

  • I watched the daily videos and, instead of just nodding along,

  • I kept a notebook where I wrote down the actions I would take

  • I actually implemented those actions day by day

That simple habit kept me focused and accountable to myself.

OYNB also nudged me to think bigger than just alcohol. The challenge pushed me to define:

  • Clear goals

  • Concrete steps towards them

  • A daily practice of working on those steps

Building a life that doesn’t need alcohol

One of my biggest goals is to move and settle in Thailand – I actually move next month.

Alongside that, I’m working towards:

  • Qualifying as a personal trainer so I can fully integrate health and fitness into my work

  • Completing my yoga teacher training

  • Hitting smaller, supporting goals that ladder up to those bigger ones

It still amazes me that “an alcohol-free challenge” is what triggered all of this.

When alcohol just stops making sense

These days, alcohol simply doesn’t belong in my life.

  • I’m generally not bothered by the idea of drinking

  • Even alcohol-free drinks are becoming less important – they helped at the beginning, now I can take them or leave them

The changes are everywhere:

  • More energy

  • Higher productivity

  • Less stress

  • A daily habit of noting three things I’m grateful for

  • Better nutrition and recovery

  • Stronger performance in training – I was active before, but I’m getting better results now

I don’t see any benefit in drinking at all. It just doesn’t fit my new lifestyle.

More than “just quitting alcohol”

I’d recommend this challenge to absolutely anyone.

OYNB is not only about removing alcohol; it’s about:

  • Understanding how alcohol really affects your energy, sleep, mood, and performance

  • Learning practical tools you can use in every area of your life

  • Using the daily videos and guidance to build a lifestyle that actually supports your goals

For me, going alcohol-free didn’t shrink my life – it expanded it.
