No matter whether you are interested in giving an alcohol-free challenge a go, or you are in the early days of your journey, we have some great tips, advice and information for beginners!
Taking a break from alcohol has the potential to be one of the most exciting and rewarding challenges of your life. If you are considering embarking on this journey, we want to ensure you get the most out of this experience, so we have compiled some of the best resources, tips, tricks and instructions to help you maximise the beginning of your journey.
So what do you need to know?
The OYNB challenge, while focusing on taking a break from alcohol, is about a lot more than changing your relationship with alcohol. We take a more holistic approach to wellness and behaviour change by unlocking all that an alcohol-free lifestyle has to offer. The benefits of a break from alcohol can impact almost every area of your life: from mental health; to sleep quality; to your wallet; and much more. If you put the work into this, there is no doubt you will begin to reap the rewards!
The OYNB challenge programme follows the MEND approach; Mind, Exercise, Nutrition and Do. This is a highly effective method of creating lasting behaviour change where the focus is on creating a lasting mindset shift that enables you to re-prioritse alcohol within your life, and replacing this with healthier habits.
One thing that is important to remember is that this challenge will be unique to everyone – each person’s triggers, motivations, hurdles and outcomes will be different. Depending on what your relationship with alcohol was like in the past, you may find it takes more or less time to rewrite new habits. This too is true for the length of time it takes to start experiencing the benefits of being alcohol-free, but be patient, as good things come to those who wait! If you are at all concerned about how taking a break from alcohol might impact your health, then please consult your GP.
How does it work?
When you join one of our OYNB 28-day or 90-day challenges, you’ll unlock daily bite-sized lessons and action steps directly inside our private members’ area on Mighty Networks. Each day a new video and reflection prompt is released, guiding you through powerful mindset shifts and practical steps based on neuroscience, psychology, and behaviour-change science.
You can log in from anywhere, follow along at your own pace, and revisit any of the lessons as often as you like during your access period.
Whether your focus is alcohol, sugar, caffeine, nicotine, mindfulness or any other habit, each challenge is designed to help you break free from autopilot habits and build lasting change.

If you’re just getting started with your habit-change journey, there’s a lot to look forward to in the weeks, months, and even years ahead. Here are three of our top tips to help you get the most out of your OYNB challenge right from the start:
1. Get involved and stay engaged
One of the most powerful things you can do during your challenge is to actively engage with the daily lessons and (optional) community inside our Mighty Networks platform. The challenge is designed to create lasting change, but it only works if you participate. Take a few minutes each day to watch the lesson, complete the action step, and check in with the community. Staying connected and surrounding yourself with supportive, like-minded people will keep your motivation high and your goals front of mind.
2. Explore supportive alternatives
If you’re changing your relationship with alcohol, experimenting with alcohol-free drinks can be a helpful tool in the early days – especially in social situations or when cravings strike. The alcohol-free drinks market is expanding rapidly, with new and exciting options appearing all the time. Not everyone finds replacements useful, but if they help you stay on track, stock up on your favourites and have them to hand. The same principle applies to other habits too: swap unhelpful behaviours for positive alternatives that support your goals.
3. Track your journey
Real change takes time, and it’s not always obvious day to day. Keeping a written journal or taking progress photos can be a powerful source of motivation. Record how you’re feeling, what inspired you to start, and what you hope to achieve. Reflect on your short- and long-term goals. As the weeks pass, you’ll be able to look back and see just how far you’ve come — a powerful reminder of the progress you’re making and the life you’re creating.
